So what the heck are Backlinks anyways ???
Why do you need it. How important it is to a website. The various methods to obtain backlinks. I will keep it simple and clear about this topic. Gaining Backlinks is not a rocket science.
Backlinks, otherwise known as inbound links, inward links, incoming links, inlinks and so on. In a SEO perspective it is quite important for a website to have backlinks from different websites (related sites mainly). It signifies popularity, grip and a noteworthy mention of your website on other websites in the WWW.
There are many different ways to obtain Backlinks. I’ll mention some of the most important one’s below:
- Submitting your website links to sites such as Digg, Stumbleupon and many other similar sites.
- Comment on blogs related to your website niche. Use Google Blog Search.
- Signature links from forums like Digital Point , V7N and others.
- Submit articles to sites such as Article Base with your links in it.
The above methods are the most easiest ways to get good backlinks for your sites with less hardwork..
And to check the number of backlinks to your website you can use Google (replace it with your link) or Yahoo site explorer. There are other websites as well. But why would you need any other when the 2 major search engines are offering you the service for free.

The number of backlinks in Google and Yahoo site explorer will differ. Since Yahoo shows the actual number of backlinks than Google.
Look at images. They both show the backlinks for google. But they differ by a huge number.
Remember !! Never, ever buy links from a different website. Big G doesn’t like you buying links and wants you to earn them through natural and traditional ways like the one’s which I have mentioned here in this post. Since they don’t want to create monopoly with the concept of link trading. And it is not a healthy competition either, sneaking of backlinks for money. But having said that many number of websites still buy their way out to gain backlinks. But you never know, when you would be penalized for doing something what Google doesn’t want you to do.
I will surely be posting some of the strategies that are followed by various bloggers who are quite successful with the methods they have implemented on their websites. Which has brought them lots of traffic and popularity.
But as always content and the quality of a website should be above par for a wesbite to achieve new heights and be more succesful.
